Microsoft 365 Phase 2 advances the institution’s Microsoft 365 roadmap by mitigating risks associated with legacy platforms and enabling the governed adoption of emerging capabilities. The initiative focuses on four key investment areas: migrating and modernizing UBC IT-hosted SharePoint services to SharePoint Online to address end-of-support risks; establishing governance, controls, and organizational readiness for Microsoft 365 Copilot and enterprise AI services at UBC; implementing a sustainable storage operating model and cost recovery framework for Microsoft 365 services; and enabling the retirement of legacy faculty email infrastructure. Together, these investments will reduce operational, security, privacy, and compliance risks while supporting the scalable and sustainable growth of Microsoft 365 services across the institution.
