Reports

Data is made available for UBC Faculties and Departments to support their business operations, analytics, and planning. This can be provided in different formats, including:

  • Extracts
  • Reports
  • Dashboard Visualizations
  • Datasets

These options can be configured for one-time or on-going (scheduled) basis. If you would like to request one of the above, or request access to a current report, please submit a Data Access Request

Extracts

Data extracts are a common choice when you want to do analysis of the data or create your own reports or visualizations. Multiple sources of data can be pulled into the extract  - they may be requested as an un-touched file, or with specific calculations and filters applied.

Reports & Dashboard Visualizations

BI Tools provide the platform for reports and dashboards, via our Tableau server or the MS PowerBI service soon to come. Most of the reports may be downloaded, but cannot be altered. As with extracts, multiple data sources can be integrated and they may be setup as a one-time delivery or on a recurring schedule with an email notification when updated.

Access to the reports & dashboards defaults to read access on both Tableau and PowerBI. A creator desktop license can be purchased for BI developers that would like to create their own visualizations. Access to publish on the UBC Tableau or PowerBI platforms is granted under a cost-recovery model, outlined below.

BI Tools

Both Tableau and PowerBI  provide a friendly visual interface that is beneficial for presenting interactive and intuitive views of data. Dashboarding (visualization) tools can serve as a base to perform further analysis or export the graphics, tables or data for distribution.

These tools are implemented under a cost-recovery program that reflects the level of use of the tool and environment. If you would like to discuss the options, please submit a ServiceNow ticket.

Cost Recovery
